FACSSO Resolution FR 24-01

FSM ASSOCIATION OF CHIEF STATE SCHOOL OFFICERS
Resolution FR 24 01

A Resolution

A resolution to prioritize the allocation of infrastructure funding for the maintenance, upgrading, and overall improvement of education facilities.

Whereas the quality and safety of educational facilities are fundamental to the learning environment and student success;

Whereas well-maintained educational facilities enhance the educational experience, promote health and safety, and contribute to the overall well-being of students, faculty, and staff;

Whereas many of our educational institutions face ongoing accreditation issues due to the lowest standards of education facilities, such as outdated infrastructure, insufficient maintenance, and lack of essential amenities, which threaten their accreditation status and the quality of education provided.

Whereas regular maintenance of educational facilities can prevent costly repairs, extend the lifespan of buildings, and ensure compliance with safety and accessibility standards;

Whereas the absence of a standardized building code has led to facilities that are not conducive to effective learning environments, impacting student performance and overall educational outcomes;

Whereas budget allocations for educational facilities have been made but have not been adequately prioritized, leading to deferred maintenance and worsening conditions;

Whereas investing in the maintenance and upgrading of educational facilities demonstrates a commitment to providing high-quality education;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the FACSSO urges the leaders of the five governments to prioritize the timely use of all infrastructure funding allocated for the maintenance, upgrading, and overall improvement of educational facilities.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution will be transmitted to the President of the Federated States of Micronesia, Chairperson of the Committee on Education of the 23rd Congress, FSM states’ Governors, Speakers of State Legislatures, Chairperson of Boards of Education, and posted on the National Department of Education website.
