Welcome to the scholarship page of our National Department of Education’s website; the most visited site on the webpage by students, educators, community leaders, curious visitors and other key education stakeholders in the nation and other overseas destinations. Our office of Postsecondary Education & Scholarship (OPES) is responsible for the administration and disbursement of scholarship awards and financial aids to top qualified students or applicants in the nation in order for them to complete their education and hopefully return to help improve and further develop our nation.
Our office is also responsible for other students and school services provided under the government’s subsidies, grants and contributions which include, but not limited to, financial assistance for students attending Palau Community College (PCC) and the College of Marshall Islands (CMI), Merit Scholarship for the top four (4) valedictorian students in the nation each year and “Sin-Tax” scholarship for top qualified students pursuing higher degree at the graduate and postgraduate levels.
We also administer the National Close-Up Program for states’ selected top qualified students to come to Pohnpei and learn and experience the national government, and also disburse financial assistance to the chartered private schools under the Aid to Non-public Schools Program.
